Our Hinoki essential oil is made from wood sourced primarily from Nara Prefecture, a region with a long tradition of managed forestry. Forestry in Japan operates within a regulated framework that includes planned harvesting, forest regeneration, and long-term forest management. At the sawmill, the Hinoki wood is processed into sawdust for essential-oil extraction, and the remaining material is repurposed for uses such as traditional enzyme baths rather than discarded. By working with partners who make thoughtful use of each material, Cedar and Myrrh supports a more resource-conscious, low-waste approach to Hinoki production.
